To see the 3D effect, you need to look through the image, so that your left eye sees a different part of the image from your right eye - the adjacent part in fact. The overlap fools the brain into thinking that both eyes are looking at the same area, and therefore minor differences in pixel position are interpreted as providing stereoscopic information. You've fooled your occipital cortex into thinking it's looking at a 3D object! A Series 5 image of some stacked boxes...
